During the Sino-Indian war of 1962, the legendary editor Chalapathi Rao wrote in his editorial that Kul Bhushan Kumar, a postgraduate in geography, with a keen eye for maps, could provide a correct picture of the war.

He was writing on the confusion prevailing among people about the war scenario and the precise position of forces along the border.

He was right. The next morning, Kul Bhushan Kumar, fondly remembered as KBK, became the most sought after person. Today, he is regarded as the father of graphic journalism in India. What he started upon noticing wrongly depicted maps in newspapers has today truly revolutionised the infographics scene in South Asia.
